God's Hands and Feet

We encourage you to prayerfully consider donation and mission opportunities to help the people of Haiti and other third world countries. In the "Ways to Help" sidebar, there are just a few of the many ways to get involved with service in/for Haiti.
While in Haiti, I didn't see a vast number of people with out shoes. I hear that there is a large religious presence in Haiti. Most people seemed to have cell phones. In my experience, what the Haitians need most is houses. Hence, "Tape and Tarp". There is still rubble everywhere. Their shelters, built right on top of the rubble, are pathetic. Each time it rained in Haiti, I was reminded of how poorly equipped these people are to handle the weather. Fierce heat waves, heavy downpours, crazy winds. Furthermore, adequte housing equates to proper sanitation systems.
However, suitable housing is not the only thing they need. The orphanages also greatly needs school supplies and the hospital is often running out of drapes, gowns, and shoe covers for the Operating Room.
With all the tragedies happening around the world, (Japan, Katrina, AIDS in Africa, etc) it's impossible to concentrate on one. It's the time of the end, and terrible things pop up on the news every day. The world is in a sharp downward spiral. But these daily disasters just give us all the more chances to help those in need.

"If We Are the Body", by Casting Crowns:

"If we are the Body,
Why aren't His arms reaching?
Why aren't His hands healing?
Why aren't His words teaching?
And if we are the Body,
Why aren't His feet going?
Why is His love not showing them there is a way?
Jesus is the way."

I can't wait to go back to Haiti.
